The Art of Haiku

Haiku originated in the 1600s in Japan but remains widely read today. In fact, its concision and brevity lend itself to today’s life. In this class we will learn the history and various forms of haiku. We will read traditional haiku and examples from today, including the contemporary journal Modern Haiku. You will come away with a better understanding and appreciation of haiku, as well as a batch of your own finely tuned haiku. Ages 16-Adult

Advanced Watercolor Workshop: Achieving Your Goals

This workshop will target those painters who are experienced in painting in watercolor yet who have still unrealized goals in the medium. The instructor will work individually with each painter to develop skills they already possess but want to improve upon. Adults

Watercolor: Fun & Easy

Beginning Wheel Throwing

There are many benefits to using art to express emotions: art can furnish a healthy outlet and an alternate way to communicate something that one cannot always put into words. The art can provide safe containment for emotions that are expressed and reflecting on the art can give new understanding and insight about feelings. Cloth, Paper, Collage

Explore new creative processes in collage working on unusual surfaces. Create fabric paper on muslin, prepared papers, and design with image transfers on tea bags, rice paper, handmade papers, and more! Discover the historic process of paste paper (paper design with colored paste). Create fabric fusion collages adhered to simple books and canvases. Work with paints, inks, pastels, and metallic sprays. Ages 16–Adult

Drawing with Your Eyes, Head, Heart and Hands

Learn the practice of drawing through fascinating exercises, intense observations, refined coordination, and connecting with your subjects. Class includes learning about materials, perspective, highlights and shadows, and personal expression. Ages 16–Adult

Drawing Connections

This class is for people that have had one drawing class or haven’t drawn in years and still feel like a beginner. It will include projects that will jump-start your drawing practice and help you find your voice. You will explore which materials suit you best, how to choose the subject matter, and how to use your sketchpad as a jumping-off point for other artmaking. Ages 16–Adult

Beyond Relief: Dry Point and Paper Litho

Have you done some printmaking and want to do more? In this class you will learn to expand your printmaking vocabulary to include paper lithography and dry point. Learn how to use these techniques in addition to relief and mono prints. Ages 16–Adult
