Terra Sigillata Pottery

If you’re looking to expand your experience in ceramics, join us for an opportunity to create wheel-thrown objects and apply terra sigillata in order to create a unique finish on our pottery. This technique by virtue of the definitions still accomplishes sealing a ceramic vessel with surfaces that can range from completely functional with subtle details to design oriented and detailed art pieces. You can think of this technique as being very "painterly". The terra sigillate incorporates mason stains to achieve colors that come out of the kiln roughly the same as they were applied onto greenware. If you are a ceramics artist, beginning-intermediate or seasoned, or a painter who has interest in carving a path in the ceramic arts, this is a new and exciting way to engage with clay.
