A52 Enameling: Thinking in Glass on Metal
Level A – All levels welcome.
Discover the gem-like, brilliant, versatile medium of powdered glass fused to metal at high heat. You will prepare the copper and explore basic techniques such as sifting, wet inlay, sgraffito, stencil, layering, and firing to produce small tiles, pendants, or ornaments. We will explore color, translucency, durability, viewing distance, and other aspects of enameling in the context of your own ideas. Please bring a sack lunch. There is a material fee of $25 due to the instructor on the first day of class.
