Y22 Drawing and Painting Portfolio Development
Calling all serious rising high school juniors and senior artists who want focused instruction in drawing and painting to help build a strong foundation—and a standout portfolio. You will sharpen your observational skills, experiment with new materials, and develop original pieces that reflect both technical skills and creative voice. Lessons will cover essential portfolio topics such as observational drawing (still life, figure, environment), painting techniques (acrylic, watercolor, or mixed media), composition and design, exploring personal themes and ideas as well as presentation and critique skills. You will work on both guided projects and self-directed pieces with instructor feedback tailored to your goals—whether that’s applying to an arts program or simply building a more cohesive body of work. This class is ideal for motivated teens who want to deepen their skills, explore their artistic identity, and walk away with portfolio-ready artwork. Supplies will be provided.
Please note: By signing up for this class, you are agreeing to the Fine Art Center Bemis School of Art’s General Policies and Minor Participant Assumption of Risk and Release, including assumption of risk, release of liability, medical authorization, rules and supervision, and photo and media consent.
