Sophia Hanna
Instructor
Sophia, a Colorado Springs local, grew up immersed in the arts community. Her first pieces debuted in the SPQR and Modbo Small Works show when she was only eleven. She followed this with years of hard work and learning from both school and professional artists. These experiences led her into oil painting in 2017. Since then, she has participated in shows in Colorado Springs galleries and painted two well-received solo shows, and is currently working on her third.
Using techniques in color theory, composition, symbolism, and magical realism, she explores identity, mental illness, and the universally human journey of learning to live in our own skin. She loves working on large wood panels, aiming to cultivate connection as viewers see themselves in each piece, chronicling the relationship with her own body, healing, fear, forgiveness, chronic pain, and compassion.
