Savanah Pennell

Visiting Artist
Savanah Pennell is a Chicana artist and art historian from Mesa, Arizona, who currently lives and works in Colorado Springs. She attended Arizona State University where she received her BA in Art History and Studio Art with a focus in intermedia, and she received her MA in Art and Public Policy from New York University. Savanah originally moved to Colorado to work in the curatorial department at the Fine Arts Center and formerly held the position of Assistant Curator of Collections. While in this role, she curated the exhibition Mi Gente: Manifestations of Community in the Southwest and was one of lead organizers of Día de Muertos at the FAC in 2021 and 2022. As an educator, Savanah has taught K-12 youth art classes for the Queens Public Libraries in New York, private and charter schools, District 11, La Foret, and Boys and Girls Clubs of America. In her art practice, Savanah creates mixed media works that range from photography, collage, video, and jewelry. Across mediums, Savanah is interested in exploring her cultural ties and aesthetics related to spirituality and girlhood.
