Bemis School of Art

Christie Williams

Instructor

My Art Education career started in the late 1990’s teaching art in a therapeutic setting for at risk children and teens. Since then, I have taught Elementary Art for 24 years, and I currently teach Visual Arts at Cheyenne Mountain High School. I am a level three International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) teacher, as well as a trained leader in the Capturing Kids Hearts Program. I was honored to be selected the Art Teacher of the Year for the Colorado Springs Arts and Business Consortium, as well as the Charles Tewell Elementary Educator of the Year for Academy School District 20. I create a safe, welcoming environment where students can be themselves and explore creative outlets and materials while learning about the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. I believe that the arts provide students a safe form of expression, communication and create connections with other humans. My mottos are “Feel great, while you come and create!” and “Art comes from the heart!” Come explore all that art has to offer and take one of my art classes.
