A51 Basic Enameling on Copper

Level 0 – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium.
Explore techniques of enameling: glass fused to metal at high heat. You will learn to clean the copper, apply powdered glass, fire it for a few minutes, and continue the process in subsequent firings. Building on your choice of several simple stencil images, you will develop your vision using sifting, wet inlay, sgraffito, and other techniques, creating a small wall plaque. Please bring a sack-lunch. There is a material fee of $25 due to the instructor on the first day of class.
