A50 Traditional and Contemporary Terra Sigillata

Level I – This class is for those with some familiarity with the medium. This could include informal use of medium outside of the classroom.

Join us as we learn traditional and contemporary applications of Terra Sigillata. Terra Sigillata, aka Terra Sig, is a refined slip that is colored with stains and produces beautiful and vivid colors. We will examine both low fire horsehair pottery that is burnished/polished, with a design heavy, modern approach regarding form and surface decoration. We will also learn how to make our own Terra Sigillata for those wishing to learn how to do this. If you’re looking for a way to level up your pottery game or want to experiment and learn something new, this is the class for you!
