A50 Etched Copper Enameling

Level III – This class is for those who have significant experience in the medium – two or more classes or a year or more of experience.
Try out historic processes such as champleve and basse-taille, in which copper is etched before applying enamels. We’ll create designs suited to etching, apply resists, etch the copper in ferric chloride, clean the piece, and use sifting, wet inlay, and other techniques to apply enamels. We’ll develop skills and insights into the challenges and potentials of etching in the alchemy of metal, glass, and heat. There is a material fee of $40 due to the instructor on the first day of class.
