J1 Jamaica Field Expedition: Plein Air Painting
Paint with local artists Phil Lear and Kat Tudor in collaboration with Fiona Godfrey and Elton Senior from Jamaica. Drink in the intoxicatingly beautiful land of the Good Hope Plantation, Trelawny, Jamaica and the warm people of the Jamaican countryside. Enjoy the fabulous accommodations at Good Hope’s Coach House Villa and immerse yourself in a truly incredible creative experience.
Lodging and tuition fees include 8 days of accommodations and 7 days of hands-on classes taught by 4 instructors, all ground transportation, meals, taxes, gratuity, and yoga classes tailored to our needs as working artists. There will be one scheduled day at the beach and one excursion to Stush in the Bush farm-to-table restaurant and home of Zionites Farm Organics.
“One of the wonderful things about plein air painting, and one of the biggest challenges is its immediacy. I’ll be taking students hand-in-hand through some simple approaches to painting with acrylics on location, with a focus on painting with confidence, engaging with the exciting local color of our tropical surroundings, and having fun doing it. Think of each plein air painting as a journal entry in the story of your life!” – Phil Lear
