A74 Cuttin’ Up: Piercing and Carving Thrown Forms

Level II – This class is for those who have taken at least one class in the medium. Students should be comfortable with the basics of how to use and manipulate the medium.

Push the envelope, cut through, and carve into clay walls! Experience the excitement of creating your own designs for carving and piercing a thrown or handbuilt vase, bowl, or sphere. Learn how to create and transfer your design onto a 3D ceramic form, and control clay hydration for the perfect surface. Functional or not, the textural and piercing possibilities are endless! Glazing will also be taught in this course.
