A61 Enameling: Exploring Texture

Level III – This class is for those who have significant experience in the medium – two or more classes or a year or more of experience.

Explore the potential of enameling for physical and visual texture. In the first part of the class, we’ll explore textures achieved with inlaid wires, sugar-firing, altering the surface of the copper before enameling, sgraffito to bare copper, and others. We’ll discuss using physical texture and other enameling processes in finished pieces, from their expressive qualities to technical considerations, and produce finished pieces. There is a material fee of $35 due to the instructor on the first day of class.
