A55 The Art of Haiku

Haiku is a type of short form poetry that originated in the 1600s in Japan but is still widely read today. In fact, its conciseness and brevity lend itself to today’s life. In this class, we will learn the history and various forms of haiku. We will read some of the traditional haiku and examples from today, including the contemporary journal Modern Haiku. You will come away with a better understanding and appreciation of the subject as well as a collection of your own finely tuned haiku.
