A48 Jewelry Production & Lost Wax Casting

Level III – This class is for those who have significant experience in the medium – two or more classes or a year or more of experience.
Advanced jewelry makers – this class is for you! Experience different ways to work with wax including wax modeling, carving wax, wax sheet construction, applying textures to wax, and metal to wax weight calculation. Spruing for casting and metal flow, investing for casting to achieve solid porosity free castings. To complete the project, you will also learn how to finish, polish, adjust size, hang balance for pendants, earring placement, and weight the pieces. Depending on time and student’s ability, stone setting may also be explored. Please note that casting will be done off site at the instructor’s studio; more information will be shared on the first day of class. The instructor will show how to use flexible shaft tools. Each student will be provided with three to use and experiment with. Tools will be provided, and wax, casting materials, gemstones, additional tools, gold, silver, and platinum will all be available for purchase.
