A28 Abstract Collage: How to Create a Visual Language with Altered Materials

In the first half of the day, we will experiment with an extensive list of mark making tools to create unique collage papers. We will test ink, colored pencil, oil pastel, charcoal, ball point pen, and markers—just to name a few. Because we are playing, and not focused on a “perfect” piece of art, the use of materials is relaxing and fun. In the afternoon we will use our altered papers and arrange the pieces in a variety of abstract collages.

Level I – This class is for those with some familiarity with the medium. This could include informal use of medium outside of the classroom.

In-person – limit 10 students

Registration for this course implies acknowledgement and adherence to COVID-19 precautions outlined on the Fine Arts Center visit guideline webpage to participate in in-person courses and workshops.
