A21 Enameling: Glass Fused to Metal

Discover enameling — glass fused to metal at high heat — in this introduction to the basic techniques of an ancient medium. Learn to clean the metal, apply multiple layers of powdered glass using various techniques, fire in a kiln, and work with opaque and transparent enamels. You will be introduced to the medium’s historic and contemporary context and its versatility. There is a $40 materials fee due to the instructor on the first day of class.
Level 0 – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium.
