A11 Friday Night Adult Painting

Love painting and do it all the time? Haven’t picked up a paintbrush since elementary school? Perfect! This is the class for you. This painting class will teach you the fundamentals of painting with acrylic paint and give you the confidence to finish a masterpiece! Supplies will be provided.

Level A – All levels welcome.

Registration for this course implies acknowledgement and adherence to COVID-19 precautions outlined on the Fine Arts Center visit guideline webpage to participate in in-person courses and workshops.

Recon Watchmen Raku Press Mold Masks with Visiting Artist, Virgil Ortiz

Using visual storytelling and sculpture, you’ll learn about the central cast of characters from Virgil Ortiz’s screenplay Revolt 1680/2180 and how they shape the fantastical world he’s creating through clay and multimedia art. Ortiz takes the participants of this workshop on a journey through the processes he used to create his latest characters—the Recon Watchmen. Using a raku clay body, press molds, and as many hand-carved details and embellishments as wanted, you will create your own version. 16-Adult

Color, Texture, & Surface Design

This exciting course works with color and texture on various found, bought, and created surfaces. Make fabulous sculptural pieces using Tyvek, a repurposed commercial material. In this class, we will make historic paste paper using a traditional process of designing the paper surface with paints, tools, and created paste. We will also make fabulous Gelli plate prints with paints, stencils, hand designs, stamps for collages, and more! Adults
