A73 Throwing Off the Hump

Level II – This class is for those who have taken at least one class in the medium. Students should be comfortable with the basics of how to use and manipulate the medium.

Rough center only once, fine center just the top, then throw off the hump! Learn to throw multiple repeated shapes; mugs, tea bowls, small plates and bowls, hollow ornaments, mortars and pestles, and spoon rests. Learn how to remove the pot from the hump and then how to trim that pot. You will be able to modify the form while still on the hump. Get creative and find more possibilities for throwing off the hump. Various glazing processes will be explored to finish off your works of art.
