Introduction to Concept Art

This class is for pre-teens and teenagers who enjoy drawing ideas for fantasy and sci-fi worlds. The course will outline a process for guiding the design of characters, objects, creatures, buildings, or locations drawn right from your imagination. You will start by referencing source material and sketching to arrive at completed drawings. The goal is to visually craft an imaginary world and bring it to life. Ages 12-16

Ceramic Wall Sculpture

In this exciting course, students will learn how to design and create a wall sculpture using mosaic, plaque, and tile-making techniques. Come create beautiful works of art and learn some new tricks in clay with slip, underglaze, and sgraffito methods along with glaze applications. Adults

Basics of Oil: Portraits

Whether you’re just getting started or never have oil painted before, you will see notable improvement throughout this six-week intensive course focusing on portraits! Love your plants? Want them to grow in style? Join us to learn to create ceramic flowerpots for your beloved plants. You will use handbuilding techniques such as slabs and pinch pots to create a variety of different flowerpots. Learn to create accessories for your plants, such as drainage plates, watering tools, and décor. 16-Adult

Meditation Mondays

Learn about the meditative art of mandala making! Mandalas represent the spiritual journey of the universe and have been known to aid in meditation for centuries. You will be introduced to the basics of creating a mandala using acrylic painting techniques. 16-Adult

ArtTrax: Painting II

Bemis ArtTrax is a new curriculum created to provide equitable and accessible pathways to the arts. ArtTrax courses introduce the fundamental concepts of painting, drawing, and sculpting through a series of engaging exercises. The emphasis is not on producing a finished work of art but rather on developing the basic skillset through practice and repetition. No prior knowledge or experience in the medium is needed or expected. The courses proceed sequentially, each lesson building upon what was previously presented. 16-Adult
