Rings: Peyote Style

One Ring to rule them all! Rings made of tiny beads are fun to wear and fun to make. One ring may not be enough to satisfy your creative appetite, and you may find it hard to stop thinking of more possibilities! Previous beading experience is helpful for this class as we will be using Delica beads, graph paper, and the flat Peyote stitch method. Ages 16–Adult

Intermediate Wheel Throwing

This re-introduction to wheel throwing will focus on the basic methods of centering clay while throwing bowls and cylinders such as mugs and vases. Use a variety of finishing and glazing techniques to produce finished works of art. Some experience required. Ages 16–Adult

A beginner’s guide to hand building clay, this course covers traditional and not-so-traditional building techniques to create by hand. A variety of texturing and glazing techniques will also be covered, while celebrating individual’s style and interests. Adults

Line, Color, Blend

This mixed media class focuses on layering color with the use of pastel, paints, inks, and many new products. Learn to combine various materials on prepared surfaces, textured papers, and board, while creating fabulous visual and tactile textural works. We will explore wet and dry pastel techniques and Gelli printing and stenciling, layer upon layer! Learn innovative approaches in art. Ages 16–Adult

Wheel Thrown and Altered Bowls

Don’t be bored with round, get out of round! Alter, cut, carve, and stamp your bowls. Learn to throw basic bowl forms in preparation for each type of alteration process. Staining and glazing will be taught to suit this project. Be the envy of the party with your own unique functional clay art serving pieces! Ages 16–Adult

Teen Wheel Throwing

Explore a variety of ceramic forms on the wheel with your peers. An excellent supplement for students without time in their schedule at school to take art classes, or for those who wish to expand their arts experience. Delve into ceramics in a low-pressure and supportive environment: no grades, no stress! Instruction will be at beginner level, but projects and demonstrations can be tailored to a variety of interests and abilities. Ages 12-16

Acrylic Painting Sampler

This quick taste of beginning painting offers a look at traditional painting techniques like dry brushing, drawing in different mediums, color theory, and under painting. Ages 9-12

Imagination Through Time: Ancient and Modern Image Making

This class will explore different image-making techniques inspired by the art of indigenous cultures around the world. Learn about different ways ancient and modern humans shared stories through illustrating animals, dreams, landscapes, and their people, while creating your own mixed media artwork. Ages 6-9

Introduction to the Elements of Art I

This class is for children who have expressed a love for art and wish to create art projects free from the typical restrictions in many elementary school art classes. The course will cover fundamental elements of art as well as the works of many famous artists. Students will create a new unique art piece each day and spend time creating a final piece of their own design. Ages 6-9
