A46 Enameling: Multiple-Segment Pieces

Level II – This class is for those who have taken at least one class in the medium. Students should be comfortable with the basics of how to use and manipulate the medium.
A larger enameled wall piece can be made even with a small kiln by mounting multiple segments together. We’ll consider historical and contemporary works in enameling and other media made up of segments. In designing and making your piece with an overall image or composition spread over multiple sections, we’ll consider concept, imagery, shapes of segments (jigsaw vs. squares, for example), final size, visual texture, firing sequence, and other factors. The last class will include mounting and critique of the pieces. There is a material fee of $50 due to the instructor on the first day of class.
