A61 Become a Professional Artist

Level I – This class is for those with some familiarity with the medium. This could include informal use of medium outside of the classroom.

Being a professional artist means you must act within professional standards. This course covers important subjects like preparing a portfolio, framing and presentation, contracts, photography of art, and direction, including marketability, profit, and business realities like taxes. We will also examine each other’s artist’s portfolios as a group and offer suggestions for improvement. No supplies are required, but it is recommended for students to bring something to take notes with.
